Creed Destinations: Marrakech, Morocco
Envisioning the gold illustrious bottle of Millesime Imperial, we take you to Marrakech: a thousand year old city rich in cultures, cuisines, and extravagant architecture. Considered the gold standard in fragrance, Millesime Imperial evokes citrus, seas, and palaces. A scent created for royalty, it suits both men and women alike and befits any occasion. Whether you’re looking for a romantic weekend getaway, or completely new adventures and inspirations, here’s a guide to help you experience the most of your Moroccan escapade.
EAT
When dining in Morocco, experience the cuisine like a local. For most, that means beginning (and ending) your meal with a small glass of Moroccan mint tea. Fresh bread with dates is a staple in Moroccan culture and is often served alongside meals or as a snack at any point of the day. Bakeries can be found in every city, town and village. Savory, slow-cooked stews are commonly cooked and served in clay tajines featuring a mix of couscous, meat and vegetables with flavorful spices. For fine dining, Restaurant du Red House has a combination of French and Moroccan dishes accompanied with stunning decor, belly dancers and live music. In the late winter and early spring months, you’ll commonly find orange rings being served with cinnamon at the close of a meal.
STAY
When planning your stay in Morocco there is a vast array of options. Marrakech is home to the world famous palace hotel, La Mamounia, which provides luxury living at its finest. La Mamounia is a visual experience of indoor and outdoor spaces. Rich with colors, textures, fabrics and scents, you’ll be entranced from the moment you step through the grand entranceway. Be sure to dedicate some time to indulge in the luxurious indoor spa. For a more traditional experience, riads (a palace built around a courtyard), are commonly rented in Morocco. Scattered all over the city and ranging in size, it’s the perfect getaway for a larger group. Enjoy mornings by the pool, afternoons cooking outside, and evenings under the night sky, all while experiencing the rich culture and history that lines within these homes dating back hundreds of years.
PLAY
Ever been stargazing in the Sahara desert? Take a camel from Ouarzazate into the Sahara for a night of glamping while you sleep under the stars. For adrenaline junkies, ride the dunes via ATV’s and sandboards the next morning. Marrakech is also one of a few cities that offers hot air balloon rides. You’ll have to be up early to catch the sunrise as it needs to be cool for the balloons to take off, but it’ll be worth it in the end. Additionally, Marrakech has a rich cultural history with landmarks and museums, and is home to many famous movie sets that have been shot throughout the country.
How to Wear it:
As Morocco is a warmer climate, try spraying Millesime Imperial behind the ears and on the wrists – places that do not typically sweat as much to allow the scent to last. Citrusy top notes of bergamot, green mandarin and lemon perfectly complement the warm climate. As it dries down, base notes of sandalwood, amber and musk will linger throughout the rest of your day. For both fashion and function, light layers and scarves are often worn to protect against the sand and dust found throughout the city. Try spraying a scarf to hold onto the scent.
