The goal was simple: Honoring the raw beauty of the Virginia Blue Ridge Mountains with an equally enchanting scent. For years, Olivier Creed, prolific traveler and perfumer for The House of Creed, has been captivated by this region of the United States. The vast open skies, the dazzling foliage and, of course, the naturally occurring earthy yet adventurous aromas that surrounded the area, were all fodder for a new scent.
That creation is Cedre Blanc, a woody fresh scent introduced in 2014 as part of The House of Creed’s
Acqua Originale collection. As Creed fans know all too well, the Acqua Originale collection is comprised of scents that celebrate the family’s signature spirit of adventure, making Cedre Blanc a seamless addition to the lineup. And like the other fragrances within this collection, Cedre Blanc is housed in a hand-crafted glass bottle that evokes the broad wings of a transient bird, an eternal symbol of discovery.
Composing Cedre Blanc was a matter of taking inspiration from all facets of the great outdoors. The first hit introduces fragrant laurel, spicy cardamom, bergamot and galbanum — a bitter and aromatic resin. That leads the way to understated floral notes of geranium, water lily and jasmine. And at the base, Virginian cedar, vetiver and sandalwood punctuate the entire composition—not too dissimilar from a smoldering campfire. Together, the notes combine to create a multifaceted work of art.
